Sleep. Precious sleep. It’s all you can think about. How much sleep does the baby need? How many naps should she take? Did she sleep long enough? When should I put her back down? Oh, yeah, and can I get some sleep, please! After I had my first baby I suffered from sleep deprivation, just like all the other mamas out there. Showers felt like a million bucks and any sort of nap was the best gift in the world. After my second baby, I knew what was coming my way, long nights nursing in the chair, seeing the clock every hour of the night and shopping online for more burb cloths at 3 a.m. I’m here to tell you that these crazy nights are all worth it, they eventually stop and just like all the other phases in the first year of life, it will come and go quicker than you think. And, believe it or not, you will miss holding those little hands in the darkness of the night. Here are some tips to help you survive those sleepless newborn months.
